The switch for the release of God's power is the continual doing of good works. We are often preached to that the widow of Zarephath received a breakthrough when she gave the prophet her last meal. (1 Kings 17) Many of us in trying to get a breakthrough try to give much an offering. We forget to ask why the Prophet came to her in the first place.

Let us bear in mind that God specifically sent Elijah to her. She was not just a random person that who encountered a prophet by chance. The Lord Jesus told us clearly that Elijah was sent to her (Luke 4:26) God said to Elijah, "I commanded a widow to take care of you."

So we see that it was not just a case of random encounter which she just took advantage of. She was known by God and she was prepared for that encounter (“I have commanded a widow to care for you”)

The main issue therefore is to be prepared by God.

Are you allowing God prepare you for the day of your own encounter?

Read Paul writing to timothy.

“ Therefore, if a man cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. 22 Now flee from youthful lusts, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace.” 2 Tim 2:21-22 NASB

Also Solomon said,

“Sow your seed in the morning, and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good.”

You see that it is the everyday walking in righteousness and the continual doing of good works that prepares one for the day of supernatural encounter.

My message to you today is that breakthrough will come to the house of the one who makes godliness and good works a CONTINUAL part of his or her life. It is not something you get by doing one act of giving or other acts of good. The widow’s breakthrough was a culmination of her life before then.

May God bless your works
